Analysis of Cincinnati/Kansas City

by Wayne Root

Wednesday, Jun 14, 2023

Played Tuesday Gave Cincinnati and won 5-4 I stated that this could be a tug-of-war as the game features two starting pitchers who have yet to register a win for themselves this season. But while Williamson has yet to win in his five starts, the Reds have at least won four of those games. Unlike the Royals, who have dropped all thirteen of Lyles starts this season. I figured when a pitcher is 0-10, winning at home is pressure laden. So the mood was that Cincinnati was the better hitting team and would get to the Kansas City pitcher. The Royals were not scoring when Lyles pitched which added to the pressure individually. Kansas City has provided him with 3.8 runs of support in each of his starts, but that number is inflated by two ten spots. Over his last two starts they’ve put up just three total runs. I wouldn’t expect much more out of them here. In the end, they did score 4 runs last night which matched the normal 3.8 runs mentioned. They scored a total of just 14 runs over their six-game road trip and just nine runs in their four home games prior. When the Reds scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning, a strong degree of comfortability set forth. Cincinnati is 5-0 in their last five roadstarts against a right-handed starting pitcher and knowing a 0-10 righty was on the mound had the Reds salivating. Lastly, the pick held tremendous value as the Reds closed at -115. The vig you lay is the most important factor. (Or should I say, the vig you DON’T lay.) Be sure to come back and get my games. You will learn so much in the complete write ups that will have you building up confidence in betting on sports.  Good Luck,Wayne Allyn Root

8 Starting Pitchers To Expect Positive Regression From

by Kyle Hunter

Tuesday, Jun 13, 2023

8 Starting Pitchers To Expect Positive Regression From  There is a big enough sample size now to see what starting pitchers should have some positive regression coming. They have likely been unlucky in some way. These are guys to keep an eye on going forward. These pitchers are in no particular order.  Hunter Greene (4.01 ERA- 3.51 xERA and 3.31 FIP) Greene’s expected ERA and FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) suggests he should have even better numbers on the year. The Reds flame thrower has been improving in recent games. He has the stuff to dominate, and it might not be that far away. Jesus Luzardo (4.17 ERA- 3.56 xERA and 3.58 FIP) Luzardo is striking out 10.31 batters per nine innings. His walk rate is way down this year as well. His batting average on balls in play allowed is a very high .335. This is a young left hander that has a bright future ahead of him. Zack Wheeler (3.91 ERA- 3.26 xERA and 2.74 FIP) Wheeler may be 33 years old now, but he is still pitching extremely well. He’s stranding only 64.8% of baserunners on the season thus far. Wheeler is very likely to improve that number since it is far lower than the overall league average.  Pablo Lopez (4.25 ERA- 3.36 xERA and 3.78 FIP) Lopez is a bit of a tough pitcher to get a read on to be honest. He is more than capable of shutting down the opposition, but he is also capable of getting absolutely crushed. Lopez has drastic home/road splits in his career, and I will definitely continue to prefer to expect him to pitch better at home. Lance Lynn (6.72 ERA- 5.43 xERA and 5.30 FIP) I’m not here to tell you that Lance Lynn is going to turn things around to the point of being one of the best pitchers in baseball again. I do think the metrics are very clear though that Lynn has been very unlucky so far this year. There might be some chances to buy low on him. Sandy Alcantara (4.75 ERA- 4.13 xERA and 3.77 FIP) Alcantara was amazing last year, but he has been a big disappointment this year. Alcantara doesn’t have many pitches so he might not be quite as good as he appeared last year, but I also think he is better than his numbers look so far this season. I would expect improvement here. His left on base rate of 60.7% is extremely low. Chris Sale (4.56 ERA- 3.56 xERA and 3.69 FIP) Sale is one of the names that I didn’t really expect to see in the due for positive regression territory, but here he is. He started the season very poorly, but has been trending in the right direction. Nestor Cortes (5.16 ERA- 3.74 xERA and 4.58 FIP) Cortes is one I fully expected to show up on this list. He has pitched far worse than a year ago, but has had bad batted ball luck. This is a guy that I’d keep an eye on for buy low spots as we go through the latter parts of the season.

Vegas Writer's Daily Recap - June 13, 2023

by Vegas Writer

Tuesday, Jun 13, 2023

It's time for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. The Florida Panthers showed resiliency in the first round when they overcame a 3-1 deficit to the Boston Bruins and won three straight over the Presidents Trophy winner. Now, they face elimination again. The Vegas Golden Knights were up 3-0 on the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final and couldn't close until Game 6. There's something about one of these teams, however, that makes the difference for me. I've got my STANLEY CUP FINAL GAME OF THE YEAR going tonight. My NHL Notes: Road teams are 46-40 in the postseason. Underdogs are 40-44 in the postseason, with a $100 wager on the pups turning a profit of roughly $1200. The Over is 45-40-1, and the Under has cashed 31 of the last 56 games. There have been 24 overtime games, and road teams are 15-9 in those games. NHL favorites higher than -150 are 14-34 on the puck line this postseason. Stanley Cup Notes:FLORIDA The Panthers have won 12 of their last 15 road games. Florida heads to Game 5 of the SCF on a 12-4 win streak in the postseason. The Panthers check in at 10th in the postseason with 2.95 goals-for per game. Florida's goals-against average during the playoffs is 3.00, ranking sixth. VEGAS Despite the loss, Vegas has won 19 of 26 against Atlantic Division teams. The Golden Knights have won 20 of their last 26 at home. The Golden Knights rank second in the playoffs with 3.76 goals-for per game. Vegas is fourth in the postseason with a goals-against average of 2.57. SERIES The home team has won 12 of the last 14 meetings. The Golden Knights have won seven straight meetings in Las Vegas The Over is on a 6-1 run when the teams play at T-Mobile Arena Four of the five underdogs got it done in MLB on Monday, with three games a pick. And the pup that barked loudest was - GULP! - the Oakland Athletics (+220 DraftKings) again, winning at home against the best team in baseball, a 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.Oakland, which closed a three-game visit in Pittsburgh with two wins, has now won six in a row behind an offense that is hitting .279 and has averaged 6.5 runs per game during the win streak.I have my third DIVISION DOG OF THE MONTH winner, as I'm 2-2 with these pups in June. Clear value with this division pup here. Don't miss my third MLB DIVISION DOG OF THE MONTH winner for June.In the final game of the NBA season, the Denver Nuggets closed out the Finals with a 94-89 win over the Miami Heat. The Nuggets failed to cover the number, which opened -9 and closed -8 at most places. The total was 210, and fell well short in landing on 183.

Vegas Writer's Daily Recap - June 12, 2023

by Vegas Writer

Monday, Jun 12, 2023

Let's start in the WNBA, where a full slate of games were on tap for us, and ran throughout the day.Underdogs split Sunday, with three of them covering and a couple barely missing by a point. Nevertheless, the underdogs are now 17-10-3 over the past 10 game days. The day started with the New York Liberty (-8', DraftKings) covering by a half-point with a 102-93 win over the Dallas Wings. The Liberty have now won six of their last seven on the floor, have covered two in a row, and have gone over in three straight. In Las Vegas, the defending champion Aces (-13') were up by as many 24, but squandered their lead and beat the Chicago Sky 93-80, failing to cover. Some may have laid -13 at the closing, but most bettors likely lost. The champs might be 8-1 SU on the year, but they've failed to cover four of their last five. They've also gone over in three straight. They retired Sue Bird's jersey in Seattle, but the ceremony was washed away when the Washington Mystics (-4) silenced the Storm, 71-65. Money flooded in on the Storm, thinking they'd be able to play for ol' No. 10, but Washington got the cover and snapped a six-game ATS skid. The Mystics have also stayed under in five straight and seven of eight. The defending Eastern Conference champion Connecticut Sun (-3') continued their impressive start to the season, defying those who thought they'd be in rebuild mode, as they registered an 89-77 win in Atlanta, handing the Dream their third consecutive loss. Connecticut is now 8-2 SU on the year, but is mired in a 2-4-1 ATS slide after covering its first three. The Sun have gone over in three straight and five of six.The Phoenix Mercury (+3') shook off an off-day airport incident in Dallas and won outright 85-82 over the Indiana Fever. It was only the second win of the season for the Mercury (2-5), while they've alternated wins and losses at the window over the past six games. In the nightcap, the worst team in the league turned in a home treat for the fans, as the Minnesota Lynx (+1') beat the Los Angeles Sparks outright, 91-86. Though Minnesota is 2-7 SU on the year, it's covered four of its last five. The Sparks have gone over in five of eight this season after Sunday's affair in the Twin Cities ran high by 16 points. The WNBA is off tonight.Five of the 12 underdogs got it done in MLB on Sunday, with three games a pick. And the pup that barked loudest was - GULP! - the Oakland Athletics (+180 Caesars), winning in Milwaukee with an 8-6 victory over the Brewers.Oakland, which closed a three-game visit in Pittsburgh with two wins, has now won five in a row behind an offense that is hitting .290 and has averaged 7.0 runs per game during the win streak. The Stanley Cup gets back underway with Game 5 on Tuesday in Las Vegas. The Golden Knights have won seven straight meetings in Las Vegas The Over is on a 6-1 run when the teams play at T-Mobile Arena

I'm back in the NBA tonight, as the NBA Finals resume action in Miami.Tonight I've got eight plays for you to consider, including the side and total in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. I'm on a 46-31-4 NBA Roll for $11,800 since the playoffs started. I've got NBA SIDE WINNER # 32 OF 52 and an NBA OVER/UNDER ODDSMAKERS ERROR.The Florida Panthers gave us reason to hope for a competitive Stanley Cup Final when they beat the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 in overtime on Thursday.Carter Verhaeghe sniped a wrist shot from the slot high into the back of the net 4:27 into overtime as the Panthers rallied to beat Vegas. The Golden Knights still lead the series 2-1, but Florida now has life and after finding a way to improve to 7-0 in overtime during these playoffs.Game 4 is scheduled for Saturday. Stanley Cup Notes:FLORIDA The Panthers have won 12 of 15 overall. Florida heads to Game 4 of the SCF on a 19-8 win streak. The Panthers check in at ninth in the postseason with 3.00 goals-for per game. Florida's goals-against average during the playoffs is 3.00, ranking sixth. VEGAS Despite the loss, Vegas has still won 19 of 27 against Atlantic Division teams. The Golden Knights have still won 15 of 21 on the road. The Golden Knights rank second in the playoffs with 3.80 goals-for per game. Vegas is fourth in the postseason with a goals-against average of 2.60. SERIES The home team has won 12 of the last 13 meetings. The Panthers have won five of the last six meetings in Sunrise. The Golden Knights have won seven of 10 in the series. The WNBA continued to see underdogs stealing the spotlight on Thursday when the lone underdog won outright with the Connecticut Sun routing the Aces. Underdogs are now 12-4-3 over the past eight game days.I went 3-2 on Thursday, including my WNBA Oddsmakers Error winner on the Sun (+5) outright over the Aces. Tonight I look to go 3-0 with three winners from the five-game card. Let's make some money with my WNBA 3-0 TRIPLE PACK.In MLB on Thursday, only one of eight underdogs got it done, with three games a pick and one other postponed. And the pup that barked loudest was the Chicago White Sox (+125 DraftKings) winning in the Bronx with a 6-5 win over the New York Yankees in the first game of a doubleheader.Chicago has now won five of six thanks to a pitching staff that has an ERA of a little more than 1.25 during the win streak.Went 3-2 on Thursday, including my MLB Interleague Blank Check Winner on the Angels. Tonight I look to go 3-0 with three winners from the full slate. Let's make some money with my MLB 3-0 RUN LINE TRIPLE PLAY.
