Wednesday MLB Free play. My selection is on Seattle over San Diego at 9:40 pm et on Wednesday. The Mariners struck first but it was all Padres from there in the opener of this series last night. I look for Seattle to answer back on Wednesday. Michael King will get the start for San Diego. He's had a terrific season by all accounts. He will be facing a Mariners club that ranks best in the majors in weighted on base average over the last seven days, however. Also note that current Seattle hitters have gone 11-for-40 (.275) with a .906 OPS against him. Bryan Woo counters for the Mariners. It's a story of what might have been for Woo as he has battled injuries all season. While he hasn't necessarily had his best stuff over his last couple of outings, he still owns a terrific 3.30 FIP and 0.95 WHIP in 18 starts this season. In seven home outings, Woo has logged an incredible 1.50 ERA and 0.67 WHIP. There's no real advantage in terms of the bullpen in this game as both teams should have their key relief arms available. Take Seattle.

I think the former Cy Young pitcher will bounce back with a great performance on Wednesday. Snell has a 2.96 ERA during home games and an ERA of 1.75 since the All-Star break. The Brewers won’t be able to compete with this type of pitching with their .240 batting average in the second half of the season. The Giants are hitting .248 during home games this season and I believe they will be able to compete more offensively than the Brewers. Colin Rea will start for the Brewers and he has a 5.89 ERA against the National League West. The Giants will get the job done versus Milwaukee. Going tonight. Milwaukee sits with a comfortable NL Central lead but will be a long shot to earn a top two NL seed having gone just 3-5 in the past eight games. Milwaukee was held to three or fewer runs in five of those games, while batting just .209 in the past 10 games. The Giants have fallen out of the wild card race but are 40-33 at home this season. Collin Rea has 12 wins in 150 innings for the Brewers but his 4.57 FIP towers over his 3.72 ERA. In his last five starts he has allowed 30 hits and 17 runs for a 5.20 ERA with eight home runs allowed and he has a career 4.50 ERA at Oracle Park. Los Angeles will give the ball to Bobby Miller (2-4, 7.79 ERA, 48 SO) who's been abysmal since his first start this season. He even got sent down to the Minor's already this season. Having said that, Miller is better than he's been pitching. He's got excellent stuff and is someone who could be very good for years to come for this organization. For the Cubs, Jordan Wicks (2-3, 4.03 ERA, 36 SO) will get the nod. Wicks is coming off a sub-par start allowing three runs in five innings pitched. Wicks has much worse stats on the road and his WHIP is very high. With the Dodgers playing this game at home, I believe that Miller will find his groove and pitch well here on Wednesday.
