Last night we saw in Atlanta perhaps the best tall (i.e., 6'6" or taller) starter in baseball today as Jacob Misiorowski took the mound for the Brewers. Tonight, we will see one of the best tall starters of the past decade when Chris Sale goes for the Braves. At age 37, the veteran southpaw may be in the twilight of his career, but he sure seems to have a lot left in the tank. In 13 starts this season, Sale is 8-5 with a 2.30 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 92 strikeouts in just over 78 innings. This will be Sale's sixth career start vs. the Brewers. In his previous five outings against them, he is 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 45 strikeouts and 27 hits allowed in 33 1/3 innings. Sale is due for a victory as he is 0-2 in the month of June however prior to that, the Braves had won eight of Sale's 11 starts. Sale is also 4-2 with a 1.26 ERA in six home starts this season. The Phillies have won 31 of their last 47 games and feature multiple power bats capable of breaking a game open at any moment. Despite Thursday's loss, I expect a strong bounce-back performance and a convincing win tonight. I believe this is a difficult matchup for Peralta, which makes the Phillies my free play.
