College Football: Two Season Win Total Under Wagers

College football is here! Week zero is this coming weekend. I am a big fan of the season win total markets, and I have had a lot of success on these wagers in the long run. Let’s take a look at two season win under wagers I have made for the upcoming season. North Texas under 5.5 (+110) You won’t find a bigger power ratings downgrade than North Texas from last season to the start of this season. The people who try to handicap based off of last year are in deep trouble here. Morris and Mestemaker are at Oklahoma State. Neal Brown steps in here. North Texas had the 137th rated recruiting class out of 138 teams this year. They tried to do their work in the portal, but they didn’t get enough high end guys. A huge drop off is coming.The North Texas offensive line looks a massive weakness and there are a lot of defensive fronts on their schedule who will take advantage of that weakness. North Texas wants to run the football with White in the backfield, but the offensive line is likely to make that a difficult task.I have North Texas as an underdog of more than 3 points in seven games. I have them favored by more than a touchdown just three times all season. I think it is likely they start 0-3. 4-8 looks more likely than 6-6. I’ll take the under here at plus money.  Illinois under 4.5 conference wins (-115) Note that this is Big Ten conference games only, not the full season. Luke Altmeyer did a tremendous job taking care of the ball and bailing Illinois out of a lot of bad situations. His scrambling ability was underrated. I like Katin Houser pretty well, but he is a downgrade from Altmeyer. Illinois was long thought of as a strong team in the trenches under Bret Bielema. This offensive line is now a clear weakness. They averaged just 3.9 YPC last year. They are less experienced this year and the running backs behind them are below average for a Big Ten team. The Illini have had a great defensive line the last couple years. That is no longer the case. Gabe Jacas was a huge loss. They’ll be much worse against the run this season.What is the identity of this team? I’m not sure. They are no longer a smashmouth strong in the trenches team and they lost their star QB. The defense is way down from a few years ago as well.Schedule- at Ohio State and home against Oregon are huge underdog roles for Illinois. I like UCLA and I think at UCLA is a likely loss. Purdue at home is the only real “free” win I see here.I took conference winds under 4.5 to save the juice rather than taking under 7.5 at -160 though I do think they will stay under the 7.5 as well.

College football is here! Week zero is this coming weekend. I am a big fan of the season win total markets, and I have had a lot of success on these wagers in the long run. Let’s take a look at two season win total overs that I like for this year. Marshall over 7.5 (+105) Marshall played better than their final record from last season would indicate. They also found a star quarterback in Del Rio Wilson. In the offseason the Thundering Herd brought in a new offensive coordinator (Rod Smith) to run a hyper fast paced offense. I think Del Rio Wilson can thrive in this system, especially with this deep group of wide receivers. On the other side of the ball, Marshall has a defensive-minded head coach who had another year to get his type of players into the program. The secondary appears much stronger than it was a year ago. Gibson is a good coach, and I expect some clear improvement from this defense. My power ratings have Marshall as a favorite of more than a touchdown eight times this season! That means the Thundering Herd just need to take care of business to get us past this win total which also happens to be plus money.I only have Marshall as an underdog of more than 7 points once this year (first game at Penn State). Marshall has a very realistic chance of winning at least nine games, so I’m happy to take over 7.5 here. Fresno State over 6.5 wins (-140) *Make sure you bet this at a book that is including all 12 games including their flex week on 11/28*Matt Entz is a great head coach. This is a guy who knows how to win from his days leading North Dakota State! Entz is all about having a strong team in the trenches.The offensive line only allowed 19 sacks last year. The run game will be really good this year. Luke is the main guy, but I think 4 guys will see quite a few carries because of their depth at RB. On defense Fresno State is amazing on the defensive line. I think Fresno is a top 30 or so defensive line nationally. They will dominate a bunch of the offensive fronts in this new Pac 12. They are top notch in the secondary as well. I think the Bulldogs will be very difficult to score on this season! The special teams at Fresno should be the best in the conference, and that will get them an extra win at some point. They should only be an underdog of more than a touchdown once this season (at USC in game one). Fresno State’s strength in the trenches makes me really like this team. I’m on the over.

Jose Urquidy gets the ball for the White Sox to duel against Kumar Rocker for the Rangers. Chicago is a -131 money-line favorite with an over/under of 8.5. The Cleveland Guardians are on the road in Los Angeles to battle the Angels at 9:38 p.m. ET. The Guardians turn to Parker Messick to take the mound to challenge the Angels’ George Klassen. Cleveland is a -160 money-line road favorite with a total of 8. Four MLB games start at 9:40 p.m. ET. Chicago visits Arizona with Kevin Gausman taking the starting pitcher assignment for the Cubs to pitch against Merrill Kelly for the Diamondbacks. The Cubs are a -150 money-line road favorite with an over/under of 9. Philadelphia plays in Seattle with the Phillies tapping Zack Wheeler to duel against the Mariners’ Logan Gilbert. The Phillies are a -123 money-line road favorite with a total of 6.5. NFL System of the Week - 08/20/26

ASA’s NFLX Thursday Night Preview  Las Vegas Raiders at Houston Texans 8 p.m. ET | ESPN | NRG Stadium   Lines (as of Aug. 17; subject to change):  Spread: Houston Texans –2  Total: 38 Moneyline: Texans –130 | Raiders +120   RAIDERS WEEK 1 RESULTS - Lost at home 27-14 vs Arizona Cardinals.  The Raiders were favored by –2.5 & Total was 42.5.  Cards covered and the Under hit.    GAME TIDBITS FROM LAST WEEK - Kirk Cousins started under center and was 5-of-6, 50 yards, 1 TD.  Rookie #1 pick Fernando Mendoza came in and was 10-of-16, 97 yards, 1 TD.  Raiders were outgained 369 to 317 vs Arizona but Las Vegas did put up 5.7 YPP to 5.4 YPP vs the Cardinals.  The Raiders also outrushed Arizona 5.4 YPC to 4.3 YPC.  Defensively the Raiders did allow the QB trio of Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Mishew, and Kedon Slovis to complete a whopping 87% of their pass attempts (26 for 30).   THIS WEEK @ HOUSTON – As of this writing on Tuesday, Las Vegas new head coach Klint Kubiak, had not revealed if his starters will play or how much action they will get if they do see the field.  However, we’d expect Starting QB Cousins to get at least a series or 2 before giving way to Mendoza comes in to see extensive action.  Mendoza was under center for 4 series last week and may see more in this game.  Kubiak has a career preseason record of 0-1 both SU & ATS.  TEXANS WEEK 1 RESULTS - Lost at home 27-7 vs LA Chargers.  The Chargers were –1.5 favorites in that game with a total of 36.5.  Chargers covered and the game went Under the total.  GAME TIDBITS FROM LAST WEEK – Houston played mostly backups with the offensive line being the only grouping where the starters played (only 1 series). Starting QB CJ Stroud did not play in the game with Davis Mills starting at QB going 9-of-15, 82 yards, 1 TD. The Texans were dominated in the stat sheet as well getting outgained 379 to 209 and 6.0 YPP to just 4.3 YPP.  Defensively Houston did hold LAC to just 3.6 YPC (4.0 YPC for Houston’s offense) but gave up nearly 300 passing to Charger back up QB’s Trey Lance and DJ Uiagalelei.     THIS WEEK vs RAIDERS – The Raiders & Texans will have a joint practice in Houston on Tuesday leading into this game. Unlike last week when Houston sat most of their starters and gave back ups and rookies extended action, head coach DeMeco Ryans has already stated that everyone whoever is healthy will play in this game.  Ryans has a career preseason record of 7-3 SU and 6-4 ATS.     San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Chargers 10 p.m. ET | NFL Network | SoFi Stadium   Lines (as of Aug. 17; subject to change):  Spread: Los Angeles Chargers –1.5  Total: 38.5 Moneyline: Chargers –120 | 49ers +105   49ers WEEK 1 RESULTS - Lost at home 19-13 vs Tennessee Titans.  The Titans were favored by –6.5 & Total was 40.  The Niners covered and the Under hit.    GAME TIDBITS FROM LAST WEEK – The Tians played most of their starters while SF sat most of theirs.  Tennessee starting QB Ward played 3 series and the Niners sat starting QB Purdy.  Despite that, San Fran outgained Tennessee 322 to 279 but also ran 14 more offensive snaps leaving the YPP stats nearly even.  SF went pass heavy with 44 attempts through the air and only 28 rushing attempts.  The Niners never led in the game.  QB #1 (Purdy) and #2 (Mac Jones) did not see action in the game.    THIS WEEK @ LA CHARGERS – One of SF’s 4 QB’s and last week’s starter, Kurtis Rourke, was injured in the game and won’t play here.  That means we will have to see Mac Jones this week (didn’t play last week) otherwise Adrian Martinez would have to play the entire game.  We’d be surprised if Purdy was made available for Thursday’s game.  They continue to have injury issues with key players McCaffrey, Bosa, Kittle and others on the injury report.  The 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has been very conservative with playing his starters in the preseason so we don’t expect that to change.  Shanahan has a career preseason record of 14-12-1 SU and 15-11-1 ATS  CHARGERS WEEK 1 RESULTS – Beat Houston on the road 27-7.  The Chargers were –1.5 favorites in that game with a total of 36.5.  Chargers covered and the game went Under the total.  GAME TIDBITS FROM LAST WEEK – The Chargers dominated the stat sheet in their win over Houston last week with a +1.7 YPP differential.  LA won by 20 points despite turning the ball over twice to the Texans one giveaway.  They sat starting QB Herbert but fill ins Trey Lance and DJ Uiagalelei combined for 275 yards through the air on 9.5 yards per pass attempt.  It was mainly a battle of back ups and 3rd teams with both Houston and LA sitting the majority of their regulars.  THIS WEEK vs 49ers – Charger head coach Jim Harbaugh already laid out his plans for the preseason prior to last week’s game.  The starters would mainly sit in game 1 (which they did), they’d play 1 series in game 2 Thursday vs San Francisco, and the plan is for 2 series in their final preseason game next week vs the Rams.  Harbaugh has a career preseason record of 13-10 both SU and ATS.
