Analysis
The Detroit Tigers will continue their domination of the Kansas City Royals tonight. The Tigers have won four straight and six of seven, and are sitting 1 1/2 games back of the Royals. Neither are going to the playoffs, but Detroit certainly would love to move out of the cellar by the end of the season. The Tigers, who are now on a 4-0 roll against American League Central foes, are hitting a respectable .251 during a 10-7 win streak. This should be a no-brainer against a Royals team that has lost 49 of 73 on the road this season. Their 276 runs scored away from Kansas City ranks 25th in the league, while its .230 road batting average is ninth lowest in baseball. It doesn't help Kansas City it is throwing Daniel Lynch, who is 3-6 with a 4.36 ERA in 13 road starts. Even worse for the Royals, he is 0-2 with a 7.13 ERA in September and is 0-4 with a 5.63 ERA over eight starts since Aug. 12. Detroit starter Matt Manning might be 1-2 in seven home starts, but he has a very stingy 2.52 ERA in Motown. He is also 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA in three career starts against the Royals. Detroit wins Game 2 of this series.
