Analysis
#636 NORTH CAROLINA (-) over Alabama at 9:40 PM EST The Tar Heels apply to a solid 43-22 ATS Sweet 16 system and they'll take care of business and punch their ticket to the Elite Eight with a dominant performance over the Crimson Tide. Alabama enters this Big Dance battle off a pair of cupcake wins and covers over Charleston and Grand Canyon and this will prove to be a tremendous challenge for head coach Nate Oats and his kids. Since dropping a pair of games to Connecticut and Kentucky in December of 2023, North Carolina has caught fire inking a rewarding 22-4 SU and 17-9 ATS record in its last 26 games. In that run battling a foe that enters off a straight up win, the Tar Heels improve to a solid 15-1 SU and 14-2 ATS including a powerful 11-0 SU and ATS provided UNC owns a team won/loss percentage less than .810. Additionally, in the NCAA Tournament holding a team won/loss percentage of .730 or higher, head coach Hubert Davis and his men sport a sensational 70-14 SU and 50-32-2 ATS mark including a stunning 28-1 SU and 21-7-1 ATS provided their opponent carries a team won/loss percentage less than .715. Kudos to 'Bama for knocking off the Cougars and Antelopes in the first two rounds of the Big Dance. However, this Sweet 16 war against the Tar Heels will be a tall order for the Elephants. In its last eight games, Alabama holds a soft 4-4 SU and 3-5 ATS record. Also, when priced as a non-conference underdog of +7.5 points or less, the Crimson Tide own a dismal 6-22 SU and 7-21 ATS mark provided they check in with confidence off two or more straight up wins. In this setting holding a team won/loss percentage of .670 or better, Alabama falls to a horrible 3-18 SU and 4-17 ATS. Defensively, the Tide allow an average of 80.9 points per game and that will be trouble matched up against a Tar Heels high-octane offensive attack that posts an average of 81.8 points per game. Take North Carolina. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
