Analysis: Alabama isn’t shy when it comes to putting the ball in the basket. Problem is the Crimson Tide will need more than offense to stop top-seeded North Carolina when they play in their West Region semifinal tilt tonight in Los Angeles. The Crimson Tide lead the nation in scoring at a whopping 90.7 points per game while knocking down 47.7% from the floor (34th) and 36.7% from 3-point range (37th). The only problem is they’ve practically abandoned things on the defensive end of the court, ranking close to last in the nation in scoring defense, allowing an abysmal 80.9 ppg. At the same time, the Tar Heels are no slouch on the offensive end either, posting a 24th-best 81.8 ppg on the season and have put up a slightly better 83 ppg in their five postseason games so far. Alabama will have its hands full, especially when you toss in the steady play of North Carolina’s R.J. Davis at point guard and Armando Bacot in the paint. Then there's the fact the Heels can play just as steady on defense, making them equally dangerous at both ends of the court, unlike Alabama.
