- It has been an incredibly disappointing season for the Grizzlies now 24-48 on the season, stalling an upward trajectory of the franchise in recent seasons. The Grizzlies have four wins in March and this home date with the Lakers should be a high point on the late season schedule. Memphis owns a miserable 8-27 S/U record at home this season, but this will be a favorable situation to catch the Lakers. Los Angeles won in double-overtime in Milwaukee last night, playing without LeBron James. Austin Reaves had a triple-double while Anthony Davis rarely left the court as the Lakers rallied back from a 16-point deficit after the first quarter. The win probability for the Bucks reached as high as 99.7 percent with about eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter with the Lakers down 19 as it was one of the most improbable wins of the entire NBA season. The win provides a lift to the Lakers in the standings sitting in the #9 spot but with the Warriors and Rockets close behind while Los Angeles is only 4.5 games out of the #4 position in the West as there is still room to make a climb into the main playoff field. The schedule won’t do Los Angeles any favors today and James seems certain to sit again with his ankle injury while the roster depth is limited, as only seven players played the bulk of the minutes last night. As bad as things have been for the Grizzlies, Memphis owns a better ATS record than the Lakers right now and won S/U at a similar underdog price in January in Los Angeles. Memphis is 3-1 S/U in the past four games hosting the Lakers though this will be the first meeting of the season in Memphis after splitting two games in Los Angeles, with another game here ahead in April. The Lakers are competing hard right now and own a 10-6 S/U record in the past 16 games, but six of those 10 wins have come by five or fewer points and this is a very difficult turnaround situation for the team.
