Analysis
With the quarterfinals of this year’s National Invitational Tournament upon us, you can expect to see plenty of offensive firepower on display when Utah goes up against Virginia-Commonwealth in Wednesday’s quarterfinal round tilt in Salt Lake City. The slightly-favored Utes are averaging a 63rd-most 78.5 points per game on the season, but even more impressive is the 22nd-best 84.8 ppg it put up over its 18 home games this year, leading to a 16-2 record there. VCU, on the other hand, has been far more efficient on the defensive end, holding teams to only 66.5 ppg (62nd). Problem for the Rams is they've allowed 78.5 ppg over the first two games of this tournament, both of which were played on their home court. In a nutshell, the Rams have struggled more on offense, and the Utes on defense (72.4 ppg, 223rd), so you can anticipate a slightly higher combined point total when this one concludes. Take the Over here.
