- #957 DIAMONDBACKS RUN LINE with Gallen (-) over Rockies with Gomber at 8:40 PM EST
With a little steam off yesterday's 9-5 road win over the Blue Jays, the Diamondbacks will travel to the Rocky Mountains and have no trouble extending the margin against the Rockies. Colorado returns home off a seven-game road trip and this will prove to be a challenging spot for the worst team in Major League Baseball.
Veteran righty Zac Gallen will toe the rubber for the visitors. In 2025, No. 23 had his number called 15 times as a starter and was zapped for 50 earned runs and 77 hits in 86.2 innings. Zac struck out 81 and walked 40 (his main problem this year) on his way to a 4-8 record with a surprising 5.19 ERA. Thankfully, in three June outings versus the Padres, Reds, and Braves, Gallen allowed only nine earned runs and 16 hits in 20.0 frames. That shakes down to a 1-1 tally with a decent 4.05 ERA.
In just his second appearance of the season and back from a left shoulder injury, left-hander Austin Gomber will pick up the pearl for the home team. Matched up against the Braves on Sunday, Austin allowed no earned runs and two hits in 5.0 innings. Overall, with 114 appearances for the Rockies including 98 starts, Gomber has posted a 28-37 record with a soft 5.03 ERA.
There are several angles that support this wager. Colorado has dropped 45 of its last 75 against the run line this season, 38 of its last 57 versus the run line when coming off a loss, 22 of its last 34 at home against the run line, and 12 of its last 19 versus the run line in division play. Meanwhile, Arizona has won 109 of its last 199 against NL West foes.
Diamondbacks righty Gallen has owned the Rockies (7-1 with a 3.03 ERA in 16 starts including 2-0 with a 2.79 ERA in seven starts at Coors Field) and he will be the key to this blowout victory. Take Arizona with Gallen. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
