The right-hander has been more effective at home where he enjoys a 2.95 ERA along with a 1.06 WHIP and an opponent’s batting average of .204 in five starts as opposed to his 5.40 ERA along with a 1.41 WHIP and an opponent’s batting average of .259 in five starts on the road. He should pitch well against this Mets team that is hitting just .238 on the road with a .328 on-base percentage and a .713 OPS. New York has lost 35 of their last 57 road games after winning their last game including 10 of those 11 games this season. They have also lost 6 of their last 8 road games with the Total set in the 9-9.5 range. Blackburn makes his first start of the season after getting called up from the minors. The right-hander has pitched all three levels of the minor leagues over seven starts across 29 1/3 innings with a 3.68 ERA during that span. In his 20 innings at Triple-A, he has a 2.70 ERA — but his xFIP on those innings rises to 4.21. Last year pitching for the Oakland A’s and then the Mets after getting traded midseason, he posted a 5-4 record along with a 4.66 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP. In his six starts at home, he posted a 2.75 ERA along with a 1.11 WHIP and a .198 opponent’s batting average — but those numbers exploded to a 6.41 ERA along with a 1.45 WHIP, and an opponent’s batting average of .265 in eight starts on the road. He faces a tough challenge against this Los Angeles team that leads MLB in weighted On-Base Average and weighted Runs Created at home against right-handed pitchers.
