Off four consecutive losses and resting 3.5-games back in the NL West, the Giants will approach this division battle with a sense of urgency. San Francisco plays its next eight games inside Oracle Park and manager Bob Melvin and his players need to make a run especially off the blemishes.
Surging southpaw Robbie Ray will hit the hump and stop the bleeding for the home team. With eight starts in the bank this season, No. 38 has been touched for 14 earned runs and 30 hits in 44.1 innings of work. Robbie fanned 46 and issued 23 free passes on his way to a 5-0 record with a strong 2.84 ERA. In a pair of May outings against the Cubs and Rockies, Ray surrendered only on earned run and five hits in 13.0 frames. That shakes down to a 2-0 tally with an elite 0.69 ERA.
Toeing the rubber for the visitors will be righty Brandon Pfaadt. So far this year, No. 32 had his number called eight times in the role of a starters and been tapped for 17 earned runs and 47 hits in 46.2 frames. Brandon struck out 41 and walked 10 on his way to a 6-2 mark with a 3.28 ERA. In three career outings against the G-Men, Pfaadt assembled an 0-2 record with a 3.68 ERA.
There are a handful of quality angles that support this wager. San Francisco has tasted victory in 44 of its last 98 when coming off a loss, 55 of its last 100 when playing at home, and 46 of its last 74 when priced as home chalk. On the other side of the yard, Arizona has slipped in eight of its last 14 when priced as an underdog.
