Analysis
The Capitals are coming into this game with a 2-1 series lead, but they are coming off of a 6-3 loss in game 3. The first 2 games of this series were much closer games as the Capitals won game 1 in OT and won the 2nd game 3-1, but the series has opened up now with the Canadiens going back home. The Canadiens leaned more on their defense in those first 2 road games in this series and they did a good job of holding down the Capitals offense despite losing both games, but the Canadiens have been a much better team at home this season and got to play more of their style in game 3. Now they have a win in this series and they have a chance to even up the series here so they are going to continue leaving it all on the ice in this game as they push hard to tie the series. This series has gone under in 2 of the 3 games so far, but the game that went over was the 1 game in Montreal and the Canadiens have been playing in some higher scoring games there recently. They have gone over 6.5 goals in 2 of their last 3 games there with all 3 of those games seeing at least 6 goals total, and they have also played much better in those games. Their offense has been a lot better as well, scoring at least 4 goals in 3 of their last 4 games there. The Capitals have not been as good on the road recently so that is going to allow the Canadiens to stay in this game with the way the Capitals have been giving up goals on the road. They have also gone over 6.5 goals in their last 2 straight as well as 3 of their last 4 games on the road. Both of these teams lost their starting goalies in game 3 as well so both are going to have their backups in and that is going to lead to goals here. Lindgren has only made 4 career starts for the Capitals and will not have a lot of confidence as he lost all 4 of those games, the team allowing at least 4 goals in each of those, and on the other side, the Canadiens have a very young and inexperienced goalie making his 1st ever playoff start in his career. Between these two sides, there will be enough goals in this game to push it over the total.
