Analysis
The Capitals are coming into this game with a 2-1 series lead, but they are coming off of a 6-3 loss in game 3. They took a 2-0 series lead at home with 2 great games which their defense played great in, allowing just 3 goals in those 2 games, but they did not play their best in game 3. They were dominated in the 6-3 loss and were not able to generate many scoring chances. This is going to be a very different game though as both teams lost their starting goalies to injuries in the last game. Lindgren came into the game late for the Capitals when they were down 5-3 already and he gave up 1 goal on 5 shots, but now he has a chance to shine in a playoff start with Thompson injured so he is going to have a much better performance here. Lindgren has only had 4 playoff starts in his career and he lost all 4 of those games last season when the Capitals were swept by the Rangers in the 1st round. This is his chance to bounce back though and even with those 4 losses from last year, the Capitals still have the goaltending advantage here. The Canadiens also lost their starting goalie in game 3 so they are going to have Jakub Dobes starting here and he came in allowing 1 goal on 8 shots he faced. That is also his only playoff experience though as he is still a very young and inexperienced goalie in the league, and now the pressure is going to be on him to perform well against the number 1 team in the Eastern Conference in his 1st ever playoff start here. He did not get much action when coming into that game 3 either and the Capitals did not take a lot of shots as a team so there is going to be a better effort here to get pucks on net and test this inexperienced goalie. The Capitals already played 2 close games with the Canadiens at home and now they are coming off of a very bad 6-3 loss so they are going to be hungry to bounce back and will be motivated to be the better team in this game. The Capitals will win this game.
