- The Hurricanes are coming into this game with a 2-1 series lead, but they are coming off of a 3-2 loss against the Devils in game 3. The Hurricanes dominated the first 2 games of this series taking a 2-0 lead at home, but they have also been a much better team at home all year. They dominated the 1st game with a 4-1 win, but they were not as dominant in the 2nd game. They won the 2nd game of this series at home 3-1, but they were trailing 1-0 in that game and played a very close game until scoring on the empty net late. They went from outshooting the Devils 44-24 in game 1 to a much closer game 2 which they only outshot them 27-26. The Devils were finally able to get a win in this series in their 1st home game, winning 3-2 in double OT, but they were the better team in that game. They came out very strong as they eventually got out to a 2-0 lead before the Hurricanes tied it in the 3rd, but the Devils dug deep to win that game and they were also the more dominant team, outshooting the Hurricanes 37-27. The Hurricanes have not been good on the road this season at 16-21-4 so this is the chance for the Devils to even up this series at home and they are going to be pushing hard in this game now that they have some confidence from that win in game 3. The Hurricanes were not playing well on the road to end the season either as they have lost their last 7 straight road games, and their defense has been much worse in these as they have allowed at least 4 goals in 3 of their last 4 as well as 5 of their last 7 games on the road. The Devils will win this game at home.
