In a bad mood off back-to-back shutout road losses to the Royals, the Astros will step up and avoid being swept before they return home and host a three-game set against the Tigers. Houston is currently sitting in third place in the AL West looking up at Texas and Seattle and manager Joe Espada and his boys need this victory badly in order to keep pace in the division.
On the bump for the 'Stros will be right-hander Hunter Brown. Hunter struck out 24 and walked three on his way to a 3-0 record with a sensational 0.72 ERA. Revenge will be on Brown's mind, too. Overall, with 102 appearances in the books for the Royals including 65 starts, Bubic has been bombed for 189 earned runs and 398 hits in 386.1 innings. That adds up to a 13-30 record with a 4.40 ERA.
There are a few solid angles that support this wager. Houston has tasted victory in 132 of its last 220 when coming off a loss, 156 of its last 262 when playing on the road, and 96 of its last 166 as a road favorite. On the other side of the field, Kansas City has fallen 233 of its last 378 when priced as a home underdog and 258 of its last 436 when rolling without rest.
