Analysis: My N.L. EAST TOTAL OF THE MONTH is the New York Mets and Washington Nationals to stay under the posted number. Tylor Megill (3-2, 1.09) is up for the Mets, and I love what I've seen thus far from the towering right-hander. The 29-year-old, who stands 6-foot-7 and 230 pounds, has been brilliant through five starts. His record may not show it, but he's pitched well enough to win, allowing now more than two earned runs in any of his starts. And in his two road outings, he is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA. He's also 5-2 in eight career starts against the Nationals, including seven starts. Last season he was 2-0 with a 3.27 ERA in his two starts against them. Washington turns to Mitchell Parker, who is 3-1 with a 1.39 ERA on the year, spanning five starts. Parker toes the slab after an eight-inning gem against the Orioles, who he held to no runs and one hit over eight innings while striking out four. The second-year lefty should be out for revenge, as he went 0-1 with a 9.31 ERA in his only two starts against the Mets. Six of the last nine meetings have stayed under, while the Mets have stayed under in seven of their last 10 and the Nats have stayed low in 10 straight. Look for a pitchers' duel in this one.
