Analysis
This is a play on the TEXAS RANGERS as part of our MLB Late Afternoon Double Play. Texas took the opener of this series with a 2-0 win behind another strong performance from Nathan Eovaldi and they got another one last night with Tyler Mahle but the bullpen blew it in the ninth inning in a walk off loss. The Rangers are back into a tie for first place in the American League West as the offense continues to underwhelm as they are No. 23 or worse in all four major hitting categories, The pitching has carried them thus far with one of the best starting rotations in the league and Jack Leiter is part of that to a lesser degree as he has allowed only one run over 10 innings but hit the IL with a blister. He made one rehab start and tossed 4.2 shutout innings. San Francisco remains in first place in the National League West by a half-game over the Dodgers behind its own strong pitching that is No. 8 in ERA at 3.52 which has made up for its pretty average offense. Jordan Hicks has done nothing but bring that ERA down however. He has a 6.59 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in five starts and take out his opening outing where he allowed one hit and no runs over six innings, he has an 8.44 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in his last four starts. He has an 8.9% K:BB% which is No. 117 out of 153 starters that have logged at least 10 innings. 10* (975) Texas Rangers
