Analysis: I'm laying the points with the New York Liberty, who I believe received added motivation and another chip on their shoulders when the WNBA told them they weren't hosting the Commissioner's Cup in their home arena. Instead of Brooklyn, they're headed to Long Island. Nothing seems to faze this team, it only makes them angrier, quite frankly. During an 8-0 win streak, the Liberty are outscoring opponents by 12.5 points per game, while also outrebounding teams by 7.9 boards per contest. In that same span, which dates to May 29, the Liberty rank No. 1 with 88.3 points per game on a league-high 46.5% shooting. Their 37.9 rebounds per game also leads the WNBA over the past 34 days. At the other end of the court, the Liberty rank third in allowing 75.8 points per contest on a league second-lowest 40.8% shooting. I do think the Mercury are a different team with Brittney Griner in the lineup, and yes they're in after a dominating win over the Seattle Storm. But the Liberty looms large, and over their previous four wins, the Mercury are 1-3, with the losses coming via -12.3 scoring margin. Lay the small number with the best team in the league.
