Analysis
This is a play on the WASHINGTON NATIONALS as part of our MLB Tuesday Triple Play. Arizona and Washington come into tonight with pretty close to the same overall and home/road splits and we are grabbing the team presently playing better at a bargain price. The Nationals have won eight of their last nine games and have quietly moved up in to a tie for the third Wild Card spot in the National League following a sweep of the Marlins, allowing only two runs in the three-game set. Washington is 16-8 against National League teams with an on base percentage of .325 or worse this season. The Diamondbacks have been all over the place recently as they have gone 5-4 over their last nine games, averaging 9.6 rpg in those five wins while allowing 10.0 rpg in the four losses. They too are right in the hunt in the National League Wild Card chase but this matchup is not in their favor. Slade Cecconi has had an interesting season with reverse splits and that is helping with the number tonight with him back on the road. Overall, he has a 6.18 ERA with all of the damage coming at home as he has a 2.73 ERA in five road starts but he is bound to reverse that as he creates contact with a poor strikeout rate and has already allowed nine home runs in his eight starts. Jake Irvin had a mediocre rookie season with a 4.61 ERA in 24 starts but he was more consistent than not as he allowed three runs or less in 18 of those games. He has been exceptional this season with a 3.00 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 14 starts, allowing four runs or more only three times and those were against the Phillies twice and the Dodgers. His command should remain spot on yet again following five straight quality starts. 10* (908) Washington Nationals
