Analysis: Arizona and Washington begin their three-game set here on Tuesday. The Diamondbacks are 35-37 and tied for third in the NL West, nine-games back of the LA Dodgers. They also have a +3 run differential. Slade Cecconi will start for the D'backs and is 1-5 on the season with a 6.70 ERA. The 6-foot-4 righthander has struggled lately, allowing six runs or more in three of his last five starts. That includes his last game where he went just three innings and allowed 10 hits and seven runs to the Angels in a loss. The Washington Nationals have won three straight games and eight of their last 10 games. They have a -9 run differential and are in 3rd in the NL East, 12.5-games back of the Phillies. Jake Irvin will make the start for the Nats. Irvin is 5-5 with a 3.00 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. Irvin has been very good of late took allowing two runs or fewer in each of his last five starts. Moreover, he has 31 KO's to just six walks during that span. I will be taking the Nationals with a very hot Irvin here on Tuesday.
