Analysis: The Los Angeles Clippers played about as poorly as they have all season in their Game 2 home loss to the Mavericks on Tuesday. With the series now shifting to Dallas for Games 3 and 4, the Mavs have the opportunity to all but put this best-of-seven set away. Despite its offense being up and down of late, Dallas won and covered the spread in six of its last nine games. More importantly, All-Stars Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving appear to be finding ways to coexist on the court, combining for 59.5 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists over the first two games of this series. Regardless of the loss, there was one bright spot for Los Angeles, and that was the return of Kawhi Leonard to the lineup after missing the past three weeks while rehabbing an injury to his right knee. The only problem is that it’s going to take a little time for him to get his rhythm back, and time is one thing the Clippers have very little of at the moment. He shot just 7 of 17 from the floor and was 0 for 5 from behind the 3-point line in his return. The Mavericks slowly begin to back Los Angeles into a corner, taking a 2-1 series lead with a straight-up win and cover in this one.
