Analysis
The Orioles are coming into this game with a 14-7 record this season and they have been playing very well in their recent games. They have won their last 2 straight as well as 6 of their last 7 games, and their offense has been great in these. They have scored at least 4 runs in each of their last 8 straight games and they have scored 14 runs in their last 2 games alone as well. They are going up against an Angels team that is 9-13 this season and they have not been playing well in their recent games as they have cooled off a bit from the hot start they had. They were just swept by the Reds in their last series and have now lost their last 4 straight as well as 5 of their last 6 games. Their pitching has not been good as they have allowed at least 7 runs in 2 of their last 3 games and their offense has also been awful as they have scored just 1 run or less in 3 of their last 4 games. The Orioles have Albert Suárez starting in this game and he is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA this season. He has only made 1 start this season but he was very good as he allowed no runs in a little under 6 innings pitched against the Twins. The Angels have not been hitting well in their recent games and that is going to continue here as Albert Suárez pitched well in his 1st start and the Angels are also traveling back from the East for this game. The Orioles are in a similar spot here but they have been playing much better recently with a much stronger offense as well so they are going to have momentum coming into this series. Reid Detmers is starting for the Angels here and he is 3-0 with a 1.19 ERA this season. He has pitched very well in his 4 starts this season as he has not allowed more than 1 earned run in any of them, but he started to show some cracks in his last start. His last start was by far his worst of the season as he allowed 1 earned run, 2 runs unearned, and also gave up 7 hits while only striking out 4 batters which is his highest and lowest respectively in a single start this season. He also faced the Orioles in his 1st start of the season, allowing 1 earned run in a little over 5 innings, but he will not replicate that here as he is starting to unravel now and the Orioles have been the better team coming into this game with the better bullpen recently as well. The Orioles will win this game.
