- The Miami Heat aren’t known for lighting up the scoreboard, and tonight they’ll find that aspect of the game even more difficult when they visit Philadelphia as part of the play-in tournament in the East.
Yes, Miami ranks third in the NBA in scoring defense, allowing only 108.4 points per game, but Philadelphia is right behind them, holding teams to just 111.5 ppg on the season (9th). Add this to the fact the Heat are scoring only 110.1 ppg themselves, and you can see why they’ll have such a huge hill to climb offensively to snag a victory here.
The 76ers won and covered the spread in their last two meetings with Miami, with the Heat putting up an extremely low 98 ppg in those contests. Not difficult to believe considering they also scored just 108.1 ppg on the road this season.
Joel Embiid posted 30.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists over his last five outings for the Sixers, and though he’s listed as questionable for this tilt due a lingering knee issue, its hard to fathom that he’d miss a game of this magnitude. He did practice on Monday, by the way.
The 76ers minus the points are the play.
