Analysis: Dallas hung on to cover in Game 2 but the rebounding edge that the Wings should expect to have in this series based on the season numbers has not materialized. Las Vegas has made excellent adjustments and still put up 91 points in Game 2 even with a big decline in shooting success after the red hot Game 1 performance. Dallas had a lot of things go right in Game 2 as the Wings shot better than Las Vegas from 3-point range and had slight edges in rebounding and turnovers but the game wasn’t in doubt in the second half and Las Vegas was up by double-digits at times before winning 91-84 with a few late makes from the Wings momentarily brought the margin within two possessions late. Las Vegas has scored at least 87 points in every playoff game after a few late season hiccups and the Liberty getting a lot of buzz, Las Vegas seems to be playing with an edge again and it is difficult to envision the Aces being unable to again reach the 90s to close out this series. In the most recent meeting in Dallas Las Vegas won 104-84 and while Dallas did win against Las Vegas in July that was a bit of a fluke result as the Aces led comfortably much of the second half but had 18 turnovers and were -11 in rebounding. A’Ja Wilson had a subpar game in that contest, but she has dominated the past two games with 30 and 34 and looks like the MVP even while she finished 3rd in the recent voting.
