Taking Utah to cover their spread in this game for a couple of reasons. I understand home-field advantage, but that momentum goes away real quick with a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter. Oregon State's defense looked bad last game getting shred apart for over 500 yards and five touchdowns against their first decent opponent. While Utah's offense hasn't been world-beaters, they should be more than capable of establishing their run game and moving the ball downfield at will. On the other end, Oregon State's offense has been solid with their west coast scheme allowing them to distribute touches accordingly, but they have yet to face a defense the caliber of Utah's. Utah allowed nine rushing yards on 32 carries last week against #22 UCLA. The Beavers are going to struggle to run the ball this game, which will make it very hard for them to move the sticks and sustain drives. We see two teams that rely on the run to establish their offense, which will chew the clock and result in a lower-scoring game. Utah's defense has also been one of the best in the country, holding teams to an average of 9.5 points in their first four games. This matchup heavily favors Utah; do not let them being road dogs discourage you, sprinkle in the money line for a more aggressive wager. In terms of trends, when these teams have faced off in the past Utah has won eight of their past 10 matchups overall, making me all the more confident in taking the Utes to cover their spread this game.
