Analysis
#907 ATLANTA RUN-LINE with Strider (-) over Arizona with Nelson at 10:10 PM EST Off yesterday's one-run road loss to the Diamondbacks and with blemishes in five of their last seven games, the Braves will have no trouble extending the margin in this matchup. Atlanta's lead in the NL East is down to 3.5-games over Miami and New York (Mets) and manager Brian Snitker's troops will go all out here. Strong righty Spencer Strider will toe the rubber for the visitors. In his last three outings versus the Phillies, Dodgers, and Rangers, No. 99 was tripped for eight earned runs and 13 hits in 17.0 innings. Spencer fanned 27 and issued seven free passes on his way to a 1-1 record with a 4.24 ERA. The road has been kind to this former Clemson Tiger hurler, too. As a guest, Strider has been scratched for only nine earned runs and 20 hits in 28.2 frames. That's good enough for a 3-1 mark with a respectable 2.83 ERA. Young right-hander Ryne Nelson will grab the pearl for the D'Backs. At home this season, No. 19 was roughed up for 23 earned runs and 40 hits in 30.2 innings of work. Ryne whiffed 18 and walked 10 on his way to a 2-1 tally with an elevated 6.75 ERA. Overall, with 11 starts to his credit, Nelson has been nuked for 34 earned runs and 64 hits in 57.0 frames. That shakes down to a 2-2 record with a soft 5.37 ERA. There are a trio of powerful team trends that aid this investment. Arizona has slipped in 40 of its last 54 in the month of June over the past three seasons and 211 of its last 280 when priced as an underdog between +175 and +250. Meanwhile, Atlanta has tasted victory in 45 of its last 63 in the second game of a series. The Braves have the Marlins and Mets on their tail in the division and they need to grab wins especially with one of their best arms on the bump. Take Atlanta with Strider on the run-line. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
