- After combining for 13 runs on Friday, Minnesota won 1-0 last night to take the first two games of this significant AL Central series. There were a combined 14 hits last night with Cleveland going 0-8 with runners in scoring position and the Twins going 2-8. Both teams hit into a double play in a key spot and both sides used key relievers. Sam Hentges pitched for the third time in four days for Cleveland while Jhoan Duran thew 26 pitches for a five-out save. It will still be warm and humid in Minneapolis tonight as the ball should carry well and the total price has been dropped from 8.5 to 7.5 compared to yesterday after a bit of a misleading 1-0 result. The current Twins lineup has been hitting left-handers with success, batting .300 with 7.7 runs per nine over the past five games as rookie Logan Allen could have a tough draw Saturday night. Allen owns a 2.72 ERA in seven starts for impressive results to start his career, but he has stranded 82 percent of his baserunners and he is a significant fly ball risk against a Twins lineup that is eighth in MLB in home runs. Minnesota faced Allen about a month ago and had seven hits against him while he only struck out three and facing him for a second time should be an advantage. Veteran Sonny Gray has an amazing line at 4-0 with a 1.94 ERA but Gray has incredibly not allowed a single home run yet this season for some great fortune while also posting a nearly 81 percent strand rate. Gray had a 0.77 ERA in six April starts and has a 3.55 ERA in five starts since with only one quality start and a very high walk rate. Cleveland scored three runs on Gray in early May and over the past five games the Guardians are batting .290 with 5.6 runs per game. The bullpens have less than ideal availability today and neither starter has a track record of consistently going deep in games. With a major price adjustment from Friday, ‘over’ has great promise in this AL Central rivalry Saturday.
