Analysis
#638 KANSAS ST (+) over Michigan St at 6:30 PM EST With plenty of confidence off back-to-back SU and ATS wins over Montana State and Kentucky, Kansas State will head over to the Big Apple and pick up another Big Dance victory when it battles Michigan State in the Sweet 16. The Spartans enter this matchup off SU and ATS victories over the Trojans and Golden Eagles and this will prove to be a difficult encore for head coach Tom Izzo and his crew. Holding a respectable 25-15 ATS record in their last 40 tries, KSU has performed very well when priced as an underdog. In this run checking in off a straight up win, the Purple Cats improve to a solid 15-8 ATS. Equally impressive, when sporting a team won/loss percentage of .710 or better and now fighting a foe that enters with confidence off back-to-back SU and ATS wins, head coach Jerome Tang and his troops have been at their financial best posting a proud 30-12-2 ATS tally including a profitable 18-3-1 ATS provided the Wildcats storm the floor off a pointspread victory. Technically speaking, this is not the best wagering spot for Sparty. In the Sweet 16, favorites that check in with a seed at No. 7 or higher own a dismal 6-12 ATS record including a woeful 4-12 ATS as long as they are not going into revenge. Also, when coming off a straight up underdog win, Michigan State has struggled in its next contest posting a poor 14-23-1 ATS tally including a rough 11-23-1 ATS provided the Green & White hold a team won/loss percentage of .575 or better. With those two parameters live and MSU checking in off a non-conference matchup, this trend falls to a miserable 2-10 ATS. Coach Izzo may own more Big Dance experience over his counterpart. However, the Purple Cats have the better team and the cream of the crop always rises to the top. Take Kansas State. Thanks and best of luck, Tom.
