Yesterday’s Results for Washington Nationals vs New York Mets

Analysis: N.L. East Game of the Month. My selection is on Washington over New York at 7:10 pm et on Friday. We'll gladly back the Nationals at a plus-money return on Friday as they head to Queens to take on the Mets. After a brief surge, the Mets have wobbled again, going 2-3 over their last five games. I don't think they're well-positioned to take the opener of this series with journeyman pitcher Robert Stock getting his third start of the season. Stock labored through his most recent start against a then-slumping Pirates offense and the Mets were ultimately blown out in that contest. I don't expect Stock to fare much better on a hitter-friendly weather night in New York (warm temperatures and high humidity). Andrew Alvarez will counter for Washington. While the Nationals are just 1-2 in his last three starts, he allowed two earned runs or less in all three of those games and lasted at least into the sixth inning in two of them. Last time out he threw 50 of his 73 pitches for strikes in an 8-2 win over the Reds. That's good enough for me in a game where I expect the Nationals bats to show up. Take Washington (10*).
