Analysis: ASA WNBA play on Washington Mystics -1.5 vs. Phoenix Mercury, 3pm ET - The Mystics have been a big surprise this season with a young roster that is putting together a strong playoff push with an 18-12 SU record. Washington has been red hot with a 6-game winning streak and have also covered 8 of their last ten games. The Mystics have won 5-straight home games with impressive wins over the Dream, Aces and Wings. Phoenix made improvements with the addition of Plum, but they still don’t rate as good as those three previously mentioned teams. The Mystics allow the second lowest points per possession in the W at 0.992PPP, have the best FG% defense and rank 3rd in 3-point percentage D. Phoenix struggles to shoot at 44.2% as a team (10th) and is 12th in 3PT%. Phoenix can’t rely on their defense which is allowing 1.054PPP (12th) and giving up 87PPG. Granted, the Mystics offense isn’t great by any means, ranking 14th in oEFF, but in this most recent 6-game stretch they have the 7th best offensive rating in the league at 112.8. Scheduling is a factor here too with the Mercury playing their 4th straight road game while Washington has been at home since July 22nd. We like Washington to get this home win by more than a bucket.
