Analysis
#909 ATLANTA with Holmes (-) over San Diego with King at 10:10 PM EST Checking in hungry off yesterday's 9-4 home loss to the Brew Crew, the Braves will hit the road and pick up a huge win over the Padres. San Diego returns home off a tough nine-game road trip and the Friars will be out of gas for this National League showdown. Hitting the hill for the visitors will be righty Grant Holmes. Fighting the Giants, White Sox, and Blue Jays in his last three June starts, No. 66 was tripped up for eight earned runs and 13 hits in 11.2 innings of work. Grant struck out eight and walked seven on his way to a 1-1 record with a 6.17 ERA. Thankfully, in his three-year MLB career, Holmes has appeared in 62 games (42 starts) and surrendered just 111 earned runs and 230 hits in 252.0 frames. That equates to a 10-13 tally with a strong 3.96 ERA. Righty Michael King will pick up the pearl for the home squad. Lined up against the Cardinals, Reds, and Mets in three June performances, No. 34 was cracked for 10 earned runs and 18 hits in 17.0 innings. Michael fanned eight and issued six free passes on his way to an 0-2 record with a soft 5.29 ERA. On the year, King has made a grand total of 15 starts and been stuffed for 32 earned runs and 66 hits in 85.0 frames. That adds up to a 4-6 tally with a 3.60 ERA. There are a number of lucrative team trends that back this diamond wager. Atlanta has grabbed wins in 48 of its last 76 overall, 35 of its last 52 when playing under the lights, 24 of its last 38 as a guest, and 28 of its last 44 against winnings teams. On the other side of the park, San Diego has fallen in 22 of its last 39 against greater than .500 foes. The Braves have grabbed wins in 19 of their last 27 off a loss and they will get out of the gate in this series with a huge win. Take Atlanta with Holmes. Thanks, and best of luck, Tom.
