Analysis: A.L. Game of the Week. My selection is on New York over Detroit at 6:10 pm et on Monday. I really like the way this one sets up for the visiting Yankees as they look to shake off consecutive losses suffered against Cincinnati over the weekend. The Tigers are in for a letdown after sweeping the team they're chasing down in the A.L. Central, the White Sox. Detroit really had no business winning yesterday as what looked like a routine ground out to end the game ended up sparking a two-out ninth inning rally before winning in extras. Gerrit Cole will start for New York on Monday. He's been solid if not spectacular since returning from injury, logging a 4.21 FIP and a 1.00 WHIP. He certainly looked like his old self in his most recent start as he allowed just two earned runs on three hits while striking out six over six innings in a 12-2 win over the White Sox last week. Framber Valdez of the Tigers comes off a solid start of his own but has been alternating good and bad outings and owns a 4.34 FIP and 1.35 WHIP to go along with a 3-5 record this season.
