- #958 CHICAGO CUBS RUN LINE with Imanaga (-) over Colorado with Lorenzen at 8:05 PM EST
Off Sunday's 5-1 road loss to the Giants, the Cubs will return home and destroy the visiting Rockies. Chicago dropped two of three at Colorado last week and manager Craig Counsell will make sure his squad takes care of business here.
Left-hander Shota Imanaga will pick up the pill for the home team. In his last June start on the road against the Rockies, No. 18 tossed a gem allowing no earned runs and two hits in 5.0 innings. Shota whiffed seven, walked two, and failed to earn a decision in Chicago's 3-2 loss. Overall, with the MLB seasons to his credit, Imanaga has been scratched for only 156 earned runs and 331 hits in 399.0 frames. After the math, that adds up to a 28-17 tally with a respectable 3.52 ERA.
Taking the mound for the visitors will be struggling right-hander Michael Lorenzen. So far this season, No. 24 has made 15 appearances (14 starts) and been punished for 55 earned runs and 101 hits in 65.2 innings of work. Michael fanned 55 and issued 24 free passes on his way to a woeful 2-8 record with an elevated 7.54 ERA. To make matters worse, with 43 appearances in the books against the Cubs including just four starts, Lorenzen has assembled a 2-4 mark with a rough 6.93 ERA.
This is the perfect spot to fade the visitors, too. Colorado has fallen in 66 of its last 116 versus the run line on the road, 131 of its last 231 against the run line when priced as an underdog, 66 of its last 116 versus the run line when priced as a road pup, and 116 of its last 198 against the run line when rolling without rest.
After scoring 23 runs in a victory in Vegas against the A's, the Rockies will have all kinds of problems plating runs here. Take Chicago on the run line with Imanaga. Thanks, and best of luck, Tom.
