- The Hornets are coming into this game with a 44-38 record this season. They have been playing very well recently as they have won their last 2 straight as well as 6 of their last 8 games. They are coming off of a 127-126 win at home against the Heat in their last game and they won that game in OT as well, but they showed a lot of resilience to come back late in the 4th quarter. Now they have to go on the road for this game, but they have the confidence from a win in that 1st game of the play-in tournament and they have been good on the road this season at 23-18. They have also won 3 of their last 4 games on the road with some quality wins in that span and their defense has been much better in these games as well. They are going up against a Magic team that is 45-37 this season and they have lost their last 2 straight games. They have been very inconsistent this season and have been very streaky with wins and losses. They were starting to get hot right at the end of the season, but they ended with a 113-108 loss to the Celtics on the road against a Celtics team that was resting starters, and that was a big game that could have given them home advantage in that 1st game of the play-in tournament. Instead, the Magic had to go on the road and they lost to the 76ers 109-97. They have been much better at home this season at 25-15 and they have won 4 of their last 5 games there as well, but they have actually struggled against the Hornets all season and have lost their last 3 meetings with them. The Hornets have been one of the better teams in the league over the 2nd half of the season and they are playing more like a playoff team. The Hornets will cover the spread in this game.
