Yesterday’s Results for Tampa Bay Rays vs Pittsburgh Pirates

Analysis: At 6:45 pm, our selection is on the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Tampa Bay Rays. The Pirates continue to ride one of the best pitching staffs they've had in recent memory to a winning record and -- who knows -- maybe even a division title. The offense on this club may be hit-and-miss but the pitching looks like the real deal as Pittsburgh's starters are currently third in the Majors with a combined 3.03 ERA (only the Braves and Royals are better). And the bullpen hasn't been half-bad either as the Pirates relievers are currently 10th in the league with a 3.54 number. Four of the five regular starters have at least one win on the season already. The one who doesn't will try to notch one this evening as Bubba Chandler goes to the hill at home in his fourth start of the season. It's not that the 23-year-old RH has been bad -- quite the opposite. Chandler has a 3.86 ERA in three starts covering 14 innings and it's only a matter of time before he puts up his first W. The Rays have already played nine games vs NL Central foes this season and they are 3-6 against them. Take Pittsburgh. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.
