- I would love to just say, "No Auston Matthews, no motivation to play." But I don't think that'll be enough. I do think the loss of the captain will have a mental effect on the Toronto Maple Leafs, and it'll play role with immediacy, having to continue the rest of their season without their star in Minnesota. The Wild are going to be an angry bunch after losing two in a row on home ice, and three of their last four. That includes Saturday's 4-2 loss to the NY Rangers. Tonight is a good spot to take frustrations out and flex, as the Leafs are also playing on the second leg of a back-to-back, after yesterday's 3-2 shootout loss in Buffalo. Minnesota has won the last three meetings and will make it four straight in a great spot to bounce back.
