- Analysis
- Minnesota won 123-111 and 1112-107 hosting Oklahoma City in January and December games while the Thunder won 113-105 in November vs. the Wolves at home, in the first meeting since these teams met last May in the Western Conference Finals. Two of those three games this season played ‘under’ against similar total numbers and the Thunder have been involved in ‘under’ games in five of six games so far in March, while riding a 7-0 S/U but 0-7 ATS run. Oklahoma City has been held to 104 or fewer points in four of the team’s past six games and this division game with an early start time in the final meeting of the regular season between these teams should also project to be a lower-scoring affair. Jalen Williams and Isaiah Hartenstein are not expected to play Sunday for the Thunder while Anthony Edwards is a question mark with a knee concern after Friday’s win in San Francisco, though one would expect Edwards to try to play today. This is a fourth straight road game for the Wolves and allowing 153 points on Wednesday in Los Angeles was a performance that certainly got the team’s attention. Minnesota has lost three of the past four games and should step back to the quality defensive potential that the team usually has, with the ‘under’ 6-2 in the team’s past eight games with the disastrous game vs. the Clippers the only instance in that span allowing more than 120. Minnesota has been held below 120 in six of the team’s past eight games and on Friday Minnesota faced a truly depleted Warriors squad to reach 127. The Thunder are still the #2 scoring defense in the NBA and evening up the season series should be a clear motivation point in this high-profile draw. Both teams still have top 10 defensive efficiency rankings in the past 10 games despite some uneven recent results.
