- Cal Baptist was also my regular-season WAC Game of the Year, so I have no problem jumping on the Lancers in the championship game tonight.
These two split their regular-season meetings, each winning on their own courts.
Why the betting market has them as an underdog is beyond me, but I think they're going to have their way against the Utah Valley Wolverines.
Cal Baptist has won five straight and is averaging 81 points per game during the run. More impressively, the Lancers are allowing a mere 63.6 ppg., with a stingy defense that is limiting teams to shoot .406 from the floor, including a paltry .263 from 3-point range.
Utah Valley might be the top seed, but I don't like the way its played down the stretch, away from home in its last three games. The Wolverines won by four at Southern Utah, won by three in double overtime at Utah Tech and won by two against UT Arlington in the semifinals yesterday.
Too many close calls for me, and now the Wolverines have their toughest ask, against streaking Cal Baptist.
I'll take the dog here.
