- #645/646 ASA PLAY ON Over 151 points – Purdue vs Indiana, Tuesday at 9 PM ET - Purdue has long been known for their staunch defense but not so much this season. This year they are outside the top 125 in FG% allowed and 3 point FG% allowed. Their eFG% defense in Big 10 play 15th out of 18 teams. In conference games only, the Boilermakers rank 16th in 3 point FG% defense and 14th in 3 point FG% defense. 4 of their last 5 opponents have eclipsed their average points per possessions conference numbers vs Purdue. The other end of the court hasn’t been a problem for the Boilers. They rank 2nd in the nation in offensive efficiency, 8th in eFG%, and 15th in offensive turnover rate so very few wasted possessions. They have scored at least 79 points in 17 of their 20 games this season. They should do plenty of damage vs an Indiana defense that ranks 10th in the Big 10 in efficiency and 12th in eFG% allowed and that’s despite facing an easy slate of offensive teams in conference play thus far. In fact, the Hoosiers have only faced 3 teams in the top half of the Big 10 in offensive efficiency (out of 9 games) and they’ve allowed 86,83, and 81 points in those games. Offensively the Hoosiers rank in the top 30 nationally in efficiency and eFG%. They are the 2nd best 3 point shooting team in Big 10 play hitting 37% facing a Purdue defense that allows 36% from deep in league play (14th). They’ve had their offensive struggles at times on the road, however at home they are shooting 50% overall, 37% from 3 and averaging 85 PPG.
