The Royals took the opener of this series on Monday but the Cubs answered back last night. I look for Chicago to clinch the series victory on Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field. Seth Lugo will take the ball for Kansas City. After finishing second in A.L. Cy Young Award voting last year, Lugo hasn't been able to regain that same magic in 2025 logging a 4.37 FIP in 18 starts. Over his last three outings, Lugo has been tagged for five home runs and now faces a Cubs offense that looks to be regaining its mojo, climbing to 12th in weighted on base average and ninth in isolated power over the last seven days. Colin Rea now owns a 20-9 record going back to the start of last season and enters this start in tremendous form having allowed just three earned runs in 18 2/3 innings of work over his last three starts. In fact, Chicago has won each of Rea's last four trips to the hill. Take Chicago (8*).
