- Analysis
- My selection is on Kansas City over Chicago at 8:05 pm et on Monday.
The Royals will look to hand the Cubs their second straight loss on Monday as these two teams match up in the opener of an interleague series. Kansas City comes in playing reasonably well. The Royals won thanks to a seven-run outburst on Sunday and rank 11th in weighted on base average and sixth in isolated power over the last two weeks. Contrast that with the Cubs, who have cooled off lately, ranking 20th in the majors in wOBA and 14th in ISO over the same stretch. Noah Cameron will take the ball for Kansas City. After a brief hiccup, he has settled in again to hold his last three opponents to just two earned runs in 18 1/3 innings of work. On the season, Cameron owns a 3.68 FIP and 1.00 WHIP in 12 starts - impressive numbers for the rookie left-hander. Ryan Brasier is slated to start for Chicago in what figures to be a 'bullpen game'. Speaking of the bullpens, they've been a virtual wash on the season. We're catching an underdog price with a Royals club that has held up well on the mound on the road, logging a 3.35 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 15 saves converted and only six blown on the campaign. Take Kansas City (8*).
