Yesterday’s Results for Miami Marlins vs Cincinnati Reds

Analysis: My selection is on Miami over Cincinnati at 5:10 pm et on Thursday. We won with the Reds in this matchup last night but I won't hesitate to go the other way and back the Marlins in Thursday's series finale. Cal Quantrill will take the ball for Miami. While he's by no means been great overall this season, the Marlins have won his last four starts with each of those victories coming by two or more runs. Quantrill, while not a candidate to work deep into a ball game, has allowed two earned runs or less in three straight starts. The Reds did have a good night at the plate on Wednesday but are still ranked 29th in the majors in weighted on base average and 25th in isolated power over the last week. Meanwhile, Miami sits 22nd and 20th in those categories, respectively, over the same stretch. Reds starter Nick Lodolo has allowed at least one home run in six straight outings and was most recently on the hill for a 5-1 defeat in Philadelphia. With the Marlins bullpen holding an edge based on current form, we'll confidently back underdog Miami on Thursday. Take Miami (8*).
