Analysis
The Texas Rangers will earn a series split when they beat the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim tonight. The offensive fireworks have carried over from the 4th of July to this series, in the first three games, as they've all landed on double digits. The teams have alternated wins, with the Halos winning 6-5 on Monday, the Rangers taking the second game 13-1, and the Angels winning yesterday, 11-8. Now it's Texas' turn to grab the win. Patrick Corbin is up for Texas, and I would have to say has been a pleasant surprise for the Rangers. I know Corbin is just 5-7 with a 4.18 ERA through 16 starts, but he is 1-0 in his last two starts with a 3.75 ERA, including the victory coming his last time out. He went into San Diego and shut down the Padres to the tune of two runs on six hits over six innings. He's lasted at least five innings in 12 straight starts, and it's his durability that's attractive for this division mash. He's 2-0 with a 4.87 ERA in four career starts against the Halos, and in his lone start against them this season, he's 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA. Jack Kochanowicz is up for Los Angeles in the finale, and I'm banking on him to continue his struggles, as he's 3-8 with a 5.42 ERA in 18 starts this season. Granted, he's been better at home, if you want to say that. But anything should be better than a 1-5 mark and 5.51 ERA on the road. Nevertheless, he's 2-3 with a 5.31 ERA in Anaheim, where lineups have come in and hit .310. Kochanowicz, who made his MLB debut one year ago tomorrow, is 5-14 with a 4.83 ERA in his career, and in three career starts against the Rangers is 0-3 with a 5.09 ERA. Give me the Rangers in this advantageous spot.
