Yesterday’s Results for Atlanta Braves vs Athletics

Analysis: My selection is on the Athletics over Atlanta at 9:05 pm et on Thursday. We'll take a flyer with the Athletics at this price as they send J.P. Sears to the mound against Spencer Strider of the Braves. Strider has been on the mound for consecutive Braves losses with both of those coming at home. He gave up a pair of home runs in a 3-2 setback against the Orioles last time out. The fact is, Strider hasn't been the same pitcher since finishing fourth in N.L. Cy Young Award voting in 2023. So far this season he owns a 3.81 FIP. His walk numbers are up and his strikeout numbers are down compared to earlier in his career. He'll face an A's lineup that ranks sixth in the majors in weighted on base average and fourth in isolated power over the last week. Sears checks in off two of his best outings of the season with both of those leading to A's victories by a combined 18-2 margin. While keeping the ball in the park has been an issue for the left-hander, he actually enters this start having not allowed a single home run over his last three outings, covering a span of 16 2/3 innings. The Braves offense performed well last night but still ranks just 17th in wOBA over the last week. The bullpens are on a fairly even plane over the last week. On the season, the Braves have converted just 12 saves while also blowing 12. Despite their overall struggles, the A's have 21 converted saves and 15 blown. Take the Athletics (8*).
