Analysis
Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson has found his stride and Buffalo’s Josh Allen already appears to be in mid-season form and has been billed as the MVP frontrunner. Thus, count on plenty of fireworks when the Ravens and Bills collide in a critical AFC matchup tonight at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
With Miami unexpectedly stumbling out of the gate, the Bills find themselves sitting comfortably atop the AFC East at 3-0, courtesy of a season-opening win over Arizona, followed by consecutive blowout victories over the division-rival Dolphins, and conference foe Jacksonville.
Allen has hit on 75% of his passes for 634 yards, seven touchdowns and no interceptions through the three games and has Buffalo leading the NFL in scoring with 37.3 points per game.
Meanwhile, Jackson has completed 65.6% of his pass attempts for 703 yards, and three touchdowns to just one interception on the year, but has also rushed for another 254 yards and one score. At a surprising 1-2, the Ravens didn't require much to defeat Dallas last Sunday, though they did manage to squander a 22-point lead in the fourth quarter before winning 28-25. That fourth quarter has been brutal for Baltimore when you look back at what the Raiders did.
Ironically, the Ravens rank first in the NFL in both run defense and pass defense, yet allow a ninth-most 341.7 total yards per game. Additionally, Baltimore has been outscored 32-7 in the fourth quarter of its past two games, and that could mean something for Buffalo should the game remain as close as anticipated down the stretch.
Any way you want to look at it, two explosive signal callers searching for any type of edge possible will meet face-to-face here, and that can only lead to one thing – a high-scoring football game. Bank on these two to score more than enough between them to send the final score Over the total.
