Wyoming vs Utah State Preview and Analysis
RECENT FORM
Wyoming has had their head handed to them this season. They lost to the Boise State Broncos, the Air Force Falcons (no easy feat), and practically everyone else in their conference. It’s been sad and hard to watch.
Utah State has been winning large. Their life is good. Since beating UNLV on OCT 16th … The Aggies have been on a 5-game winning streak! They have only lost two games this entire season and they were to the Mormon contingent of BYU and the heathen contingent of Boise State.
OFFENSIVE ANALYSIS
The Wyoming offense is mired at 108th in the FBS with 342 ypg and having only scored 26 touchdowns. It’s not the worst, but in the Mountain West Conference it is only good enough for a last place standing. The Clemson Tigers are 107th and in their worst season in years.
The Utah State Stats are a whole lot better. Utah State is ranked 14th in the FBS in offense. They gain 467 yards per game and have scored 38 TDs!! …. That’s only 13 spots behind the Ohio State Buckeyes. … It’s nine spots better than the Tennessee Volunteers! They can score against anyone… especially a last place team in the MWC.
DEFENSIVE ANALYSIS
Wyoming fares better on the defensive side of the ball. The Cowboys rank 24th in the FBS on defense. (remember they don’t win). They give up 330.8 yards per game and have given up 27 TDs. They play tough against all those teams that eventually destroy them in the win column.
The Utah State Aggies don’t worry about defense as much as putting points on the scoreboard. They rank a lousy 84th in the FBS on defensive giving up 397 ypg and 31 TDs so far. Their win column would say that some of those scores were all about getting the ball back in a shootout.

The Wyoming defense wasn’t built for playing this hard late in a losing season. 5 points is less than a touchdown and Utah State should win by two touchdowns or more.
