What an electric start to the NHL season. So much parity, so many good teams through the first 10-plus games, you have every right to be excited! Of course the Vegas Golden Knights and Boston Bruins (and the New Jersey Devils?) are heading the fun charge here as the top two teams in the league, because of course they are. But never count out the Avalanche, you know they're always going to be hanging around and will be eating worlds once they get everyone healthy. But this is a good time to be playing these hockey games, as well. Look no further than our own Doc's Sports on a 14-7-0 run over the first 30 days of the NHL season. There's also ASA, Inc. posting a 12-5-1 mark through the first month. You know you can trust our champion handicappers to get you across the finish line with your NHL bets. Jets - Blackhawks preview, prediction and analysis

Recent results
Jets: won 5-4 (OT) at Stars
Blackhawks: lost 3-2 (SO) vs. Canadiens

I'm not sure anyone should really be surprised that the Chicago Blackhawks are starting to finally lose some games. It was only a matter of time before Chicago finally reminded the world of what kind of team it really is. And that is a group that is a rebuild on the horizon, and it's only a matter of time before the last remaining pillars from the Chicago dynasty are officially gone. In the meantime, however, the Blackhawks will try to end their six-game losing streak on Sunday at home against the Winnipeg Jets in what should be a very interesting central division matchup.

Why do I think this one will be interesting? Well, it has more to do with The Jets than it does anybody else. Winnipeg is still looking for that realm of consistency where we can think that it is actually a very good team. Is it in the realm of Dallas or Colorado? Right now I would say no. But what it does have is a very good goaltender and Connor Hellebuyck who continues to turn back the clock and look tremendous every time out. Winnipeg is coming off a 5-4 victory against the aforementioned Dallas Stars on Friday.

Jason Robertson did his thing once again for Dallas, but it was Josh Morrissey scoring the game-winning goal in overtime 34 seconds in, to give The Jets another victory. Morrissey has been a tremendous asset to what Winnipeg wants to do this year, leading Winnipeg with 20 points on the season. If it weren't for the fact that Erik Karlsson would be lighting the world on fire and having his renaissance year with the San Jose Sharks, we would be talking about Morrissey as a Norris trophy favorite right now. He has been the one constant for Winnipeg in its hope of staying competitive this year.

And of course, there are the usual suspects. Whether it be Mark Scheifele or Kyle Connor, Winnipeg has a lot of firepowers to complement the play of it's tremendous goaltender. Hellebuyck stands with a record of 9-5-1 with a .926 save percentage. So long as he stays healthy and he continues to win games like this, Winnipeg is going to go places this year. For Winnipeg to survive the onslaught that was Robertson and the way that he stayed calm late to at least ensure they got a point out of this was tremendous work for Winnipeg.

Unfortunately, Chicago doesn't have that luxury. The Blackhawks don't have that kind of goaltending, having to split up the duties with three different guys like Alex Stalock and Petr Mrazek, along with Arvid Soderblom. But when it comes to Chicago, coming off a 3-2 shootout loss to the Montreal Canadiens the other day, the eyes are on Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. At some point, Kane is likely going to be the first one out. When that time comes remains to be seen. But if there's anything that is symbolic about what is going on with Chicago right now, it's the fact that you don't have to look hard and understand the narrative to see who scored the game-winning goal in the shootout between Montreal and Chicago. And if you don't think Kirby Dach is laughing all the way to the bank, then you don't really know hockey that well.

Prediction

I don't have any faith in Chicago right now, and if you are looking for any reason why Winnipeg should win this game handedly, if Hellebuyck is the starter then it's a guaranteed lock at that point. But I guess we'll have to see only? Jets win 3-1
