Washington Football Team Analysis

Washington is coming into this game with a 2-4 record overall and they are 1-1 in their road games this season where they will be in this game. Washington is coming into this game on a 2 game losing streak after losing to the New Orleans Saints and the Chiefs in their last game. They actually looked good in the 1st half of that game against the Chiefs keeping them at bay and actually taking a 13-10 lead into halftime. It all fell apart in the 2nd half though as they did not score a single point allowing Kansas City to just run away with the game. Taylor Heinicke played alright but also struggled at times as he completed 24/39 passes for 182 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. J.D. McKissic led the team in rushing with 45 yards on 8 carries while Antonio Gibson led the team in carries with 10 for 44 yards rushing before leaving that game with an injury. McKissic also led the team in receiving with 65 yards and 8 receptions while Ricky Seals-Jones had 58 yards and 1 touchdown on 4 receptions. Terry McLaurin was completely shut down in that game with 28 yards on 4 receptions. Cole Holcomb led the defense in that game with 9 solo tackles, 1 assisted one and 1 sack. Kamren Curl also had a nice game with 7 solo tackles and 2 assisted ones while Kendall Fuller was right behind him with 7 solo tackles and 1 assisted one. Holcomb along with Chase Young and Casey Toohill all led the defense in sacks with 1 each in that game. Fuller and Bobby McCain both came up with 1 interception each in that one. They have scored 136 points in their first 6 games averaging 22.7 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 186 points against them allowing 31 PPG. Their offense is averaging 336.2 YPG while their defense is allowing 423 YPG.

Green Bay Packers Analysis

The Packers are coming into this game with a 5-1 record overall and they are 2-0 in their home games this season where they will be in this game. After losing their first game of the season getting smashed in the process, the Packers have now won their last 4 games straight coming into this game on a 4 game winning streak. They had a scare in their game against the Bengals winning that one by 3 points in OT, but they followed it up with a 10 point win over their division rival the Chicago Bears. Aaron Rodgers was good in that game as he completed 17/23 passes for 195 yards and 2 touchdowns. Aaron Jones led the team in rushing with 76 yards on 13 carries while AJ Dillon had 59 yards on 11 carries but it was Aaron Rodgers who scored the only TD on the ground in that game. Davante Adams led the team in receiving with 89 yards on 4 receptions. Aaron Jones and Allen Lazard both caught 1 touchdown pass each in that game. Rasul Douglas led the defense in that game with 5 solo tackles. Kenny Clark led the defense in sacks with 2 while Dean Lowry and Jonathan Garvin both had 1 each as well. Darnell Savage Jr. came away with the only interception for the defense in that game. They have scored 144 points in their first 6 games averaging 24 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 136 points against them allowing 22.7 PPG. Their offense is averaging 343.5 YPG while their defense is allowing 315 YPG.

Washington vs Packers Prediction

The Packers are coming into this game as a 9 point favorite with the current betting odds according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Packers have a lot of weapons on their offense between Rodgers, Jones, and Adams. They are facing a Washington defense that was ranked 2nd in the league last season but is now in the bottom 3 of the NFL, and they did not lose any players in the offseason. This Washington defense is just underperforming and should be playing better in their games but they are not. Until they show they can get back to where they were last season, teams are going to walk all over them as the game goes on longer just like the Chiefs did to them. The Packers have the talent here to not make this game a close one so the best bet to place in this game is on the Packers to cover the spread.

Washington Packers Prediction:  Our NFL Pick for Sunday, October 24, 2021 (1:00 pm ET start time) is Packers 35 WFT 17.

Players to Watch

Washington Football Team: Terry McLaurin is one player to watch in this matchup. He leads his team in receiving yards and in touchdowns scored this season. He is coming off of a game where he was very quiet and he is easily their biggest playmaker on the team. Look for them to get the ball in his hands in this game and make a bigger impact than he did in the last game.

Green Bay Packers: Aaron Jones is one player to watch in this contest. He leads his team in rushing yards and in touchdowns scored this season. He led his team in rushing in their last game but he did not get to 100 yards in that one. Look for him to have a better game here and run all over this defense.

"I think it shows we will be OK. It shows we can win games in multiple ways. We have the leaders that we need.
