Wake Forest vs Vanderbilt Prediction

The current betting odds have Wake Forest listed as an 8.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Wake Forest had a very successful year last year and they have picked up right where they left off with a big win over VMI last week, putting away a team they should have had no trouble with which they did. Their defense played very well in that game and even their offense put up over 40 points which was something they were averaging per game last season. Vanderbilt is one of those teams that has played 2 games already and they won both, but they also haven't played any good teams that can really test them. Their first win was against a decimated Hawaii team and their last win was at home only by 11 points against Elon from the FCS, and they allowed Elon to score 31 points in that game as well. Vanderbilt will not be able to score points like they have been doing in their last 2 games since this Wake Forest defense is really good and with the way Elon walked all over Vanderbilt's defense last week, Wake Forest is going to put the points up in this game. Wake Forest is also a ranked team and they will play with that in mind wanting to keep their ranking since they have just started to appear there in the last year or so. They will bring their best effort in this game and they should be able to blow Vanderbilt out with better play on both sides of the ball. The best way to place a bet here is on Wake Forest to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“I’m proud of the win, but I thought we were really sloppy. There’s just not a good feeling in my stomach when we have that many yards and did so many good things, but the penalties were awful. We had five holds. Two of them probably cost us a touchdown and the other cost us a two-point conversion. We had two roughing the quarterbacks. One cost us a pick-six, and the other kept a drive alive. On a third-and-four, we had a defensive lineman jump offsides and give them a free first down. There were just many lack-of-discipline penalties that we had tonight.” - Dave Clawson after his team’s win against VMI in their last game.

"We've gotta get healthy. We've gotta see how many guys we can get ready to play, and then we gotta grow a lot from tonight too, because there's too much that we left on that field that certainly Wake will be set up to make us pay for that. But it'll be an exciting week for this program, and we're excited to play that game in our stadium." - Clark Lea on his team’s injuries coming into this game.
