Virginia Tech Hokies Analysis

VT is coming into this college football game with a 4-4 record overall and they are 1-1 in their road games this season where they will be in this game. This will be their 5th conference matchup of the year and they are not in the best spot right now with a 2-2 record in their conference games this season. They just snapped a 3 game losing streak in their last game coming into this one. They beat GT in a game that they pretty much jumped out to a lead in the first half and never looked back as they ran away with that one. Braxton Burmeister played alright in that game as he completed 15/25 passes for 254 yards and 2 touchdown passes. Malachi Thomas had a nice day on the ground for them as he led the team in rushing with 103 yards on 25 carries while Raheem Blackshear also had 83 yards on 14 carries. Tre Turner had a very nice day as he led the receivers with 187 yards and 1 touchdown on 7 receptions while Tayvion Robinson caught the other touchdown pass in that game. Alan Tisdale led the defense in that game with 8 solo tackles and 4 assisted ones. Amare Barno and Jaylen Griffin both had 1 sack each in that game while Armani Chatman came away with the only interception for the defense in that game. They have scored 192 points in their 8 games this season averaging 24 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 179 points against them allowing 22.4 PPG. Their offense is averaging 329.3 YPG while their defense is allowing 380.1 YPG.

Boston College Eagles Analysis

BC is coming into this game with a 4-4 record overall and they are 2-1 in their home games this season where they will be in this game. This will be the 5th conference matchup on their schedule this year and they are already in a massive hole with a 0-4 record in their conference games this season. Their season started great with a 4-0 record through 4 games but they have gone on a four-game losing streak coming into this one ever since their conference games started. They lost their last game on Saturday to Syracuse in a game that was close in the first half with BC taking a 3-0 lead into halftime but then got dominated in the second half of that game losing 21-6 in the end. Dennis Grosel did not have a good game in that one as he completed 9/17 passes for 93 yards while Emmett Morehead completed 6/15 passes for 87 yards in that one. Pat Garwo III led the team in rushing with 84 yards on 17 carries but he was basically their whole ground game in that one. Zay Flowers had a nice day as he led the receivers with 116 yards on 6 receptions. Overall, it was a bad day for the offense as they did not even score a single TD. Vinny DePalma led the defense in that game with 6 solo tackles and 5 assisted ones. Kam Arnold, Khris Banks, and Marcus Valdez all led the defense in sacks in that game with 1 each while no one on the defense was able to come away with an interception for them in that one. They have scored 205 points in their 8 games this season averaging 25.7 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 166 points against them allowing 20.1 PPG. Their offense is averaging 370.6 YPG while their defense is allowing 345.3 YPG.

Virginia Tech vs Boston College Prediction

VT is coming into this game as a 3.5 point favorite with the current betting odds according to Draftkings Sportsbook. VT finally looked good in their last game getting the upset win over GT by double-digits. They get a BC team now that has been trending in the wrong direction after the last few weeks. BC started the season off undefeated through 4 games but as soon as they hit their conference games they folded up and have lost every single one. They have still not fixed their problems, only scoring 6 points in their last game against Syracuse. Nothing is going to change for them in this game so the best bet to place here is on VT to cover the spread.

Notable Quotes

"It starts with running the football. We made some plays in the passing game as a byproduct of (Georgia Tech) selling out to stop the run. Malachi certainly played well. Raheem's playing better because Malachi's playing better. You see a concerted effort to move piles and go north and south." - Justin Fuente on his team’s win over GT.

"We missed their two runs, missed two tackles. Didn't do what we were doing in the first half." - Jeff Hafley on his team’s loss to Syracuse.
